Terms & Conditions
These are the terms on which the Hawaii Foundation for the Blind offers this site, its board portal and its text-message service. Last revised 5 October 2026.
Using this site
The public pages are provided for information about the Foundation. They are offered as they are, and while the Foundation takes care over what it publishes, it does not warrant that every page is complete or current. The Foundation’s governing documents, as filed and adopted, prevail over any summary of them here.
A certified copy issued by the Foundation can be checked at Check a certified copy. That page shows what was certified and whether it still stands; it does not show the record itself.
The board portal
The board portal is for the Foundation’s directors, officers, staff and advisors, and for nobody else. A member signs in with a one-time link sent to their own email address or confirmed mobile number, and must not pass that link to anyone. What a member reads in the portal is subject to the Foundation’s Confidentiality Policy, which each director acknowledges annually. The Foundation may suspend or remove an account at any time.
SMS Terms
Program. The Hawaii Foundation for the Blind board portal sign-in service sends text messages to members of the Foundation’s board who have opted in. The messages are a one-time verification code when a member adds a mobile number, and a one-time sign-in link each time the member requests one. No marketing or promotional messages are sent.
Opting in. A member opts in by entering a mobile number in their portal settings and confirming the code texted to it. Consent to receive these texts is not a condition of membership of the board or of any service from the Foundation; sign-in by email is always available.
Frequency. One message when a number is confirmed, then one message for each sign-in link the member requests. Frequency varies with how often the member chooses to sign in by text.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details of your plan.
Stopping. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; one confirmation text is sent and no further messages follow. Reply START to opt in again. A member can also remove the number in their portal settings.
Help. Reply HELP to any message, telephone (808) 378-5908, or email email@hfblind.org.
Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on the carrier and the device.
Privacy. How numbers are held and protected is in the Privacy Policy. A plain description of the program is at Text messages from the Foundation.
The telephone
Calls to the Foundation’s number are answered by an automated menu and may be forwarded to a director’s telephone or recorded as voicemail. By leaving a voicemail you agree to its being recorded, transcribed by machine and read by the people who handle that kind of call.
General
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii. The Foundation may revise them; the revision date at the top changes when it does. Questions go to email@hfblind.org or (808) 378-5908.
